Althea Williams was already an accomplished woman, joining the military at the age of 39 with a MBA focused on Advanced Community Studies, a background as a former award-winning executive director, small business development center (SBDC) assistant, and public policy researcher, but her journey took a dramatic turn when she decided to enlist in the army and deploy to Afghanistan.
During her deployment, Althea lost several of her battle buddies and returned home with Post traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD). Several years later, while stationed in Germany, she experienced a traumatic brain injury (TBI) from a head on collision that changed her life forever.
Despite these challenges, Althea did not let her experiences defeat her. Instead, she channeled her energy and determination into creating a new community for women veterans and their families. She founded She Vets It, a podcast that curates a successful online community for women veterans, military spouses and their families.
She Vets It provides a safe and supportive environment for women veterans and their families to connect, share experiences, and support each other. Althea understood the healing power of serving the community, and She Vets It has become a beacon of hope and inspiration for many. The podcast is an extension of her commitment to helping women veterans and their families navigate the challenges of transition, PTSD, TBI, and other related issues.
Althea’s journey is a testament to the resilience and strength of the human spirit. She is a true hero who has dedicated her life to serving others and creating a better future for all women veterans and their families. Her story serves as a reminder of the importance of community, and the power of the human connection to overcome even the toughest challenges.
She Vets It is just the beginning of Althea’s mission to support and empower women veterans. Her work continues to inspire and make a real difference in the lives of many. If you are a woman veteran, military spouse or family member, or simply looking for inspiration, we encourage you to check out She Vets It and see for yourself what a difference a strong online community can make.
